ANSWERS FOR ATHLETES AND PARENTS
What do we do when she’s still hurting?
Start with the question that brought you here. I’ll explain what my role can be, what belongs with a healthcare professional, and how to choose a next step.
Why does it still hurt when she plays?
Sport asks the body to handle repeated, fast, and sometimes unpredictable demands. A useful next step is to look at the full context: what she was doing when pain started, what she feels now, what her training and recovery look like, and what has changed in her sport.
As a sport and exercise scientist and strength coach, I can help families understand the physical-preparation side and build strength around the athlete. I don’t diagnose injuries. If pain is ongoing or hasn’t been medically evaluated, involve an appropriate healthcare professional.

Should she keep playing or stop?
I can’t clear an athlete to play or decide whether it is safe for her to continue. That decision belongs with her healthcare professional or athletic trainer, who can evaluate her situation. If you’re unsure, ask them before she continues sport.
My role is to support strength and performance within an appropriate plan and in coordination with the guidance she receives.

What if we’ve already tried PT, doctors, or scans?
Bring what you know about the care she has received and what is still hard when she plays. The goal is to understand where sport-specific strength and physical preparation may fit alongside her clinical care, not to replace it or second-guess her clinicians.
If you still have unanswered medical questions, take them back to her healthcare team. I can help identify the training and movement questions that are within my coaching role.

How can she return to sport with more confidence?
Returning is a process, not a single moment. It may involve healing guidance from her clinician, progressive strength work, understanding how her body responds, and preparing for the demands of practice and competition.
I help with sport-science and strength coaching. Her healthcare professional guides medical treatment and return-to-play clearance.

Can strength training prevent another injury?
No program can guarantee that an injury won’t happen. Physical preparation can help an athlete build strength and capacity for the demands of her sport. The work should fit her sport, training schedule, experience, and current needs.

What does coaching cost, and where do we start?
Coaching options and fees can change, so review the current Head 2 Toe Strength service information before deciding. If you aren’t sure which option fits, the free 15-minute fit call is a place to describe the situation and ask questions.
